What you pay
You buy tester placements in packs, each a one-time purchase through Shopify, on your Shopify bill in US dollars: the Launch Pack (5 placements for one product, $49.50), 50 placements for any of your products at $9.90 each ($495), 100 placements for any of your products at $9.50 each ($950), 250 placements for any of your products at $8.90 each ($2,225), 500 placements for any of your products at $7.90 each ($3,950), or 1,000 placements for any of your products at $6.90 each ($6,900).
A placement is one tester for one product. It's used only when that tester places their order with their single-use code: never when you launch a campaign, never for a code that expires unused, and never because of what a review says. You pay for placements, not for reviews.
The first 5 placements of your first campaign are free, once per store: reinstalling FirstProof doesn't give them again.
Before a campaign launches, we check that your balance covers every placement on it. If it doesn't, we'll ask you to buy a pack first. Placements on your balance don't expire and aren't refundable as money.
Placements back
If no tester orders through a placement within 21 days of it opening, it goes back on your balance automatically and we tell you. The 21 days start again when the placement reopens for a replacement tester, but a placement still without an order 45 days after your campaign launched always goes back.
Free placements use nothing from your balance, so there's nothing to give back.
Your part
Ship testers' orders within 3 business days, like any other order. You also cover the product itself and shipping it to each tester, as with any order.
Never ask testers for a positive review, directly or in your campaign brief.
Testers
Testers have a US address and mobile number, are 18 or older, and have verified their ID and phone number. They apply, and FirstProof selects them. In FirstProof you see each tester by first name and last initial; their order reaches you like any other order.
A tester's review window (72 hours) starts when the carrier's tracking shows the parcel delivered, when the tester confirms they've received it, or 7 days after you mark the order fulfilled, whichever comes first. If a tester reports the parcel didn't arrive or arrived damaged, the window stops while we look into it.
If a tester doesn't review
A tester who misses the window is removed for good, and their phone number and address can't be used again.
Their placement reopens for a replacement tester at no cost to you: it uses nothing more from your balance.
Honest reviews
As the FTC requires for reviews from people who got the product free, every review is published with the label “Received this product free through the FirstProof testing program.” It can't be turned off or hidden.
Negative reviews are published like any other. You can't hide, edit, delete, delay or reorder reviews, and the FTC's rules on consumer reviews forbid suppressing them. You can reply publicly once to each review, or report a review that breaks our content rules: we decide, and tell you why.
Reviews are stars and text for now: testers can't add photos until our image moderation is ready.
